Gangways, Piers, Docks

Why buy from Bristol?

Simply put, Bristol Industries of Pennsylvania, Inc. manufactures a superior product, exceeding all customer expectations.  We challenge you to find a higher quality product at our competitive prices.  Dollar for dollar, Bristol Industries of Pennsylvania, Inc. offers the best value when it comes to hi-tech aluminum gangways, piers, and dock.

Hi-tech aluminum resists corrosion, pitting, leaching, rusting, warping, and splitting.  Our entire line can be manufactured with your choice of decking options, using either aluminum decking, marine-grade treated lumber, exotic Ipe* wood, composite wood, or PVC lumber.  This wide variety of decking choices allows you to match existing structures, such as porches, decks, and patios, or even other manufacturers' docks and piers.

Whether residential, commercial, or public access, the same care and attention are put into the production of all our systems. top

Gangways, Ramps

Gangways, ramps, and piers should enhance the environment in which they are placed.  Bristol Industries of Pennsylvania, Inc. products enhance the value of your waterfront property by making it accessable in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Bristol Industries of Pennsylvania, Inc. uses mainframe elements that are exclusively extruded for our ramps, docks, and piers. This proprietary mainframe system imparts additional stability to the framework and deck, while reducing tortion during extreme weather conditions. Your ramp, dock, or pier will remain plumb for the life of the product.***

As an option, your gangway can be fitted with a transition plate made of aluminum diamond plate.  An integrated piano hinge accommodates wave action and daily tidal changes. At the terminal end of the gangway's transition plate, a UHMW** polyethylene wear-strip reduces friction at the point of contact, while remaining attractive throughout many years of use.

As a standard feature, two UHMW** polyethylene rollers are included with each gangway.

Safety and durability are our first concern. Any waterfront experience is only as pleasurable as it is safe. With that in mind, we make all of our products using our exclusive non-skid Dock Plank system with Rotex® to ensure adequate traction on either wet or dry surfaces.

Because we are not a one size fits all manufacturer, we can craft specially configured handrails to fit your needs. All of our gangways, ramps, and piers comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, ensuring safe access for all.  top

Piers, Walkways

Where shore environments are shallow, or differences in tidal levels limit watercraft access to docks, existing bulkheads or seawalls, a pier may allow you to develop your waterfront property by making it possible for you to reach mean low water minimums, or water depths that permit boats with greater drafts.

Bristol Industries of Pennsylvania, Inc. is known the world over for its beautiful, long lasting, marine access. We manufacture walkways to provide access to nature preserves, where low impact access is desirable.  Our piers can traverse fragile dune ecosystems and wetlands, as well as conservancies in all types of natural settings. Where tidal levels limit watercraft access to docks, bulkheads, or seawalls, a pier may allow you to reach mean low water minimums or water depths that permit boats with greater drafts.

Choosing your decking and piling material gives you the peace of mind that comes from making ecologically sound building choices, while aesthetically enhancing your walkway or pier's surroundings.  top

Docks

Using our exclusively extruded aluminum mainframe elements, we can create virtually any size floating dock that you require. All docks can be manufactured to specific freeboard heights, depending on float specs and design loads.

Crafted for exceptional stability and durability, our mainframe design limits tortion during extreme weather condtions, ensuring that your dock remains attractive and safe for many years.  Our standard aluminum dock comes with our exclusive non-skid Dock Plank with Rotex™ decking to ensure safe access to watercraft, even in wet conditions.

While aluminum provides a clean, modern aesthetic, some prefer the traditional warmth of wood.  Our Ipe* wood is borer and insect resistant, and is an environmentally responsible alternative to chemically treated wood decking.

Bristol Industries of Pennsylvania, Inc. takes Ipe*  to the next level by milling it with grooves to improve traction without the chipping and splitting common to softer woods. Ipe* decking is sealed on the cut ends with wax to eliminate wood's natural tendency to absorb fresh and salt water, which causes swelling.  Plus, it wears like iron!

*Our supplier only purchases Ipe from Brazilian growers, who harvest under the guidelines and techniques of sustainable yield forestry management as set forth by the International Tropical Timber Organization. Choosing Ipe wood instead of pressure treated lumber is environmentally responsible. Chemically-treated lumber is known to release toxins into the ecosystem.

**Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), also known as high-modulus polyethylene (HMPE) or high-performance polyethylene (HPPE) is a very tough material, with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made. It is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals. With extremely low moisture absorption, it has a very low coefficient of friction, is self-lubricating, and is highly resistant to abrasion (15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel). It is odorless, tasteless, and non toxic.
